Shaun Scruggs is a graduate of Peachtree Ridge High School, where he wrestled for 4 years beginning the sport as a freshman. He then continued his wrestling career at Georgia Southern University where he competed with their club team and was a captain for 2 years. He holds a Bachelors degree in History and a Masters in Special Education.

He continues to pursue his grappling passion as a brown belt with Creighton Mixed Martial Arts. He lives with his wife Kaleigh, who holds a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and their two dogs Mac & Biscuit.
